Privacy policy

The short version:

We don't collect your name, email, or any personal information. We cannot see what you browse, what you buy, or your payment details. When you charge a purchase, only an anonymous dollar amount is sent to our server — nothing that could identify you.

We will never run ads. Ever.

The long version:

1. Who we are

Dopamine Card is a free browser extension that helps you resist impulse purchases. You can reach us at dopaminecard@gmail.com.

2. What the extension can and cannot see

Dopamine Card runs on shopping pages to detect prices and checkout buttons so it can show you the cost of what you're about to buy. That's the full extent of what it reads.

It cannot see your passwords or login credentials, your payment card details, your personal information or account data, or pages that are not shopping-related.

Your browsing activity is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

3. Data stored on your device

Your personal data — including your savings total, charge history, goals, hourly wage, and settings — is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. It never leaves your device unless you choose to use the optional sync feature described in Section 5.

You can delete all of this data at any time by clicking "Reset all data" in the extension toolbar, or by uninstalling the extension.

4. The global savings ticker

When you charge a purchase, one piece of information is sent to our server: the dollar amount. Nothing else. No identifier, no site name, no timestamp tied to you. This anonymous amount is added to a global running total that powers the collective savings counter on our website.

We have no way to trace this back to you, and we do not try to.

5. Optional sync (coming soon)

A future version of Dopamine Card will allow you to sync your savings total and goals across devices using a randomly generated code (for example, WOLF-7842). No account, no email, and no personal information is required. The code is the only thing stored on our server, paired with your total and goal amount. Only you know your code.

This feature is opt-in. If you do not use it, nothing is sent to our server except the anonymous charge amounts described in Section 4.

6. Advertising

Dopamine Card contains no ads and will never contain ads. We do not work with advertisers, and we do not allow third parties to promote products or services through this extension.

Occasionally we may recommend tools or services we genuinely believe support your financial wellbeing — things like savings accounts or budgeting resources. These recommendations will always be clearly labeled, will never be paid placements for consumer products, and will never contradict the purpose of this extension. We will only recommend something we would use ourselves.

7. Third-party services

Dopamine Card does not include any advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media integrations. The only external service used is our own server for the anonymous global ticker described in Section 4.

8. Children's privacy

Dopamine Card is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will never change our commitment to not collecting personal data or running ads.
